Does anyone use the Hingertine style guillotine finish with frequent success? I can reliably achieve the chinstrap grip on my opponents - especially from turtle, but I have trouble actually finishing the choke with my hand still melted on their chin. It feels like I can't generate enough pressure on their throat to actually create a submission. Any tips?
Not specific to the hingertine, but I find with guillotine finishes that getting the correct strangling angle usually dictates whether or not I can get the finish. If your angle is such that you can put pressure on the carotid arteries it usually doesn't take much pressure to finish.
@@tephonis are there any aspects that are in his GG videos that you are having trouble accomplishing?
What are you doing from turtle after you get the grip?

From turtle, after I establish the the chinstrap grip, I am grabbing their elbow and stepping up to keep that arm on my hip. I then connect my hands and sit to guard with my knee across their belly so my foot is blocking the hip. Maybe I'm not lifting my hips enough? I'm a big guy, so getting my fat ass off of the mat is not easy.
I think next time also pay attention to where your thumbs are and if they are driving into your opponent’s neck. The Hingertine is very similar to a 10 finger guillotine

Hey, it's all about the elbow going down and the hand going up into his throat! Been using it for ages and feel like this is the key for it! Try to push the end of the lever of this head down with your elbow.
