Seems most of the kimura trap systems are geared towards nogi. How effective is it in the gi?
Friction might make things a bit more difficult, at least spinning wise.
It works in gi as well.
I believe friction is generally a good for submission offense, especially once you lock in a good grip.
I'm not sure exactly what scenario you're envisioning when you say "friction might make things a bit more difficult"; spinning on your back is easy in the gi as long as you have the coordination and core strength to keep your back rounded (same in no-gi). Spinning on your back is a vital skill for open guard retention as well, so if you're not used to that "back rounded" posture, you can consider working on at some point in time.

And add crucifix, Tarikoplata and assassin choke finishes.
Tons of fun to be had with the gi!
Thanks for the replies. Been trying to work on getting to t kimura position and looking for finishes from there.
Kimura trap is my favorite position in gi or nogi. So many different options and entries. Once you make a couple second nature you will start seeing them everywhere. Definitely worth checking out the kimura trap course here as well as some good youtube stuff from Jordan teaches jiujitsu.
