Wondering if anyone has used knee sleeves for rolling. Are they annoying? Helpful?
I don't have a knee injury, but find that I get a lot of bump and bruises. When this happens, its not too comfortable, like there is sand in the knee joints. As an older grappler I would like to minimize wear and tear, but not sure if knee sleeves would accomplish this.
Very helpful just the right combination of warmth, padding, and support for BJJ from my experience compared to knee pads or compression pants/spats. You want to get the ones with the silicone grippy material on the inside to stay put, the ones without it move around too much when you roll.

Does anyone wear knee pads? I’ve seen it before online, but never at my gym.
When I wrestled and about my first 5 years of BJJ I wore knee pads but then I stopped because I felt they were actually contributing to bumps and pimples on my knees
I wore them a lot in the early days of training and still occasionally when I feel like I need some extra support.
I found that the smoother my bjj got, the less I needed them as the less I was smashing my knees
But yes, they can be useful, try to get something with a bit of padding and as slim as possible
I injured something in my knee last year. I found the sleeve helped alot. When I wasn't moving my knee would tighten up and when I went to move again it would be very uncomfortable. The sleeve stopped this and also gave me a bit more stability, which may have been more peice of mind than anything else, but it did it's job. I never found it got in the way. I'd have to readjust it sometimes, but it wasn't really annoying or anything.
I used this sleeve from Amazon, and it was great. But I have also used a BJJ belt to tie around my knee and immobilize it, and also make it look awkward as hell for my training partners.
When I train no gi I generally wear kneepads to keep from getting mat burned when I shoot if I drag my knee. With the gi there is built in protection so to speak as it's rather thick material
Bauerfeind genutrain has become my go to knee sleeve recently. Slim, enough padding, stays in place
