Hey everyone - loving the new look and learning features. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on how they were planning on using the "paths" and "plans". Personally, for paths, I was thinking of using the mind map to plan out and categorize the techniques from GG, YT, Class. I was then going to create a "A-game" plan with 1-3 moves per position that I am currently working on (and a "B-game" plan for 3 more techniques to focus on next).
What are everyones thoughts? Are these the rough intentions with these two learning platforms?
I had the same intentions with these tools but it quickly becomes a bit unwieldly with even a couple of moves per position. I think my new approach to getting the most out of the tools is to create seperate ones for closed loop systems for specific finishes or positions. For example the classic Roger Gracie cross collar from mount, take that as the base and work backwards to filter everything towards it. Essentially an A-game plan for a small subset of grappling, rather than trying to have a few things for all positions in one.
And then the cards feature can be used to create flashcards on these individual systems and their interconnectivity.
@Pred500 thanks- I’ve noticed how quick things can become unwieldy as well. Digging deeper I saw that you can set an end target position - which would dovetail nicely with your Roger mount idea.
I do like how you can give each technique a rating…might be nice for even curating techniques and seeing the ones that I have a handle on and those I haven’t touched yet.
I also think they combine with the target goals in the training log section somehow..need to investigate more
Yes the A + B game thing sounds good, just don't think to set yours A-game as that way forever. One has to keep growing. After you get the basics down, make sure you have fun. I always suggest a "comedy move" ie I kept spamming kimuras but giving my back to friends. Berimbolo from top positions is always fun to try.
