Pre class food

Anyone got any recommendations what to eat before a class.

My classes usually start at 1830 and I hold of eating till after it.

I'm thinking on training days I should have two smaller meals. Maybe one 2 hours before and 1 straight after?

And what type of food should I be eating before etc?

Thanks

fruit and nuts as mentioned or maybe a small amount of pasta/rice/bread for me about a half hour before class seems ok.

I am still losing weight, but I have found if I avoid carbs almost totally it seems to really affect my rolls. I usually try something light with rice. Chicken usually. I have experimented with a few things and it seems like even a small fruity protein shake works well and goes down smooth.

I usually finish my workout like an hour before class
I try to stop and get a protein shake on the way and usually have it done like 45 minutes before class

I will usually do a smoothie with a cup of berries (strawberries or blueberries), a serving of pbfit powder peanut butter, a scoop of protein powder, and a cup of almond milk. I like to eat this an hour and a half to two hours prior to training as I found if I eat anything within an hour of training my stomach cramps up.

If you have issues with eating too close to strenuous exercise, try an energy gel 20-30 minutes before class.

I go in around 5:30am for warm ups and class at 6:00am. Usually a granola bar will suffice, I eat the nature valley crunch ones (comes with 2 in the pack).

I was stealing my kids fruit and vegetable squeeze packs from Costco but I am 210lb so that wasn't cutting it.

I can tell a difference on an empty stomach vs. with something in it. I can also tell about mid way through class or rolling when I haven't eaten enough nourishment.

I prefer to train on an empty stomach. Not so empty that I'm hungry but certainly not full. I train with weights the same way then eat soon after. I also end load the volume of my food to the end of the day.

I eat once a day either breakfast or Lunch. Rarely do I train on a full stomach..

Royler told us eat no less than two hours from training. I rarely feel the need to eat before and make it a practice hungry. Maybe not the best, I am currently 155 and 5% body fat, but I feel great. Being a hard gainer, I eat heavy after training.

I also only eat 2 meals a day but am trying to supplement with Huel more often now. All depends on if you are trying to lose or gain weight I imagine.

I also never drink water during training. How about you all?

No Pro at this, but from my personal experience, DON'T eat 1 hour before class. 3h and more before class, basically everything I ate was fine and not affecting me negatively with the exception of sausages like Salami, Chorizo and the likes. I don't know why, but its really not a good idea to eat them on training days, at least for me

I do and need to do it. But its a fine line for me between not enough and to much, so usually I take only a few gulps multiple times between rounds or when the coach calls a short break

Dont eat fats or a lot of protein before training (meat, saucages, milk) instead eat something that is absorbed fast and will give you maximum energy for sustain amount of time to make it halfway into training (mix and match as your liking clerey+hummus, honey 30mins before; nutty bar, yogurt with honey 1h before, ALSO black tea helps widen arteries and beetroot juice (reference: nutritionfacts.org)) NO Sugar!.
After training you can again have something that is fast absorbed to replenish muscle nutrients (i sometimes have a shake at the gym until i cook something, although i have read something that not eating right after training may boost testosterone levels) and then have your normal meal/dinner that will slowly be broken down in the stomach during sleep.

I do a smoothie of plain kefir, a teaspoon of local (raw) honey, tablespoon of nut butter, scoop of biosteel hydration powder about two hours before training.

Some carbs before class will give you energy and let you feel full without being sluggish. Something like rice krispies is a good option

Have liquid carbs and liquid proteins – specifically, fast-digesting carbs that are low in fiber like Vitargo.

Bananas and oatmeal with greek yogurt...nothing to heavy or slow to digest.

My class starts at 730 at night and I like to finish eating my meal by 7, maybe 705. I'll have maybe a half cup of rice and 6oz of chicken or beef. with a little bit of some type of sauce on it. I feel really great with this and Im actually usually pretty hungry by 745 or so. White rice and that bit of meat digests really quickly and makes me feel good and ready to train

I struggle w/ this by far. Classes start at 630pm and I dont get home until 9pm. If I eat dinner at 5, I feel heavy & slow for class. If I wait until I get home, then I feel heavy going to bed. I worked with a dietician and he had me try eating some baby carrots with hummus (or banana/yogurt) before class and a protein shake when I get home. This has helped me, but I'm still refining it and trying to come up w/ a few different options.

I've mainly waited till after class to eat, so I don't have stomach issues while rolling. Recently I've been eating a small bowl of cereal a few hours before class and I feel like it's light enough to not bother me, but helps with low energy issues I was having by not eating for so long. Experimenting is probably the best way to go.
