I just thought I'd toss this out there because Jason's arm drag video changed my grappling forever. Once I saw all the different situations I could use arm drags in, they became something I invested a lot of time and energy into.
Now that bodylocks are becoming popular as guard passes, I've been noticing various people demonstrate double underhooks / bodylocks / bear hugs from all kinds of unexpected positions. Shawn Williams has a near-side underhook half-guard pass that is basically double underhooks. Gary Tonon has a completely different bear hug half guard pass. Amaury Bitetti has a crazy reverse bear-hug half guard pass on youtube.
I use them all the time for takedowns. My go to butterfly guard pass is a body lock. My two most successful butterfly sweeps are from a body lock. My go to sweep when I break posture in closed guard uses a body lock. I've got a last ditch mount escape that uses a bear hug.
Basically, I'm suddenly discovering how useful this hold can be from multiple different positions and I'd love to learn how to use it in even more positions.
Hey, I’ll for sure put it on the idea list! @@JBerg
