What makes you want to train? Is it for defense? Health? Love and passion for the sport?

I train for fun and mental stimulation. Those are my primary reasons. My secondary reasons would be to keep sharp in terms of the skills I've acquired. For me it's:

    1. Fun

    2. Mental Stimulation

    3. Skill Aquisition

I train to better understand grappling—and I coach for the exact same reason. My new short-term goal is to get into good enough shape to hit the BJJ Globetrotters camp in Tallinn this April.

@crossover We've done Tallinn the last two years.and love it as a camp. The city is lovely, and the camp is great fun. We're doing Heidelberg next year but hopefully our camp choices will cross paths at some point!

Like Jason, I train for mental stimulation, skill development, and self-defense, or more specifically, protecting my family. Growing up in a rough neighborhood made me want to be able to defend myself and the people I care about if the need ever arose. It really comes down to the old saying: it is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.

For me initially coming from a striking background 1st was knowing it’s a part of “the game” that just can’t be ignored whether for competition or street. Then I feel no matter why you instant if you stick around long enough it just becomes a part of you and a normal part of your life. Good conversation start topic
