What is the best way to use this website?

Sorry if this has already been answered in another thread. New subscriber and I'm loving this site. Just watching a few of the fundamental videos has really helped me with my rolls.

My question is this: what's the best way to study? Do most people just browse around and complete courses when they feel like it? Do you stick with one course and re-watch it when needed? Should I resist the urge to watch everything at once? Just looking for the best method that has worked for everyone.

Hello Dustin, welcome to the site and also to the forum
I think people use the forum in different ways

The way I use it, might not be the best way for you to use it, but I'll tell you my process

The way I use the site most often is to help me learn a new technique that we are working on in class

Since it takes me a while to learn a technique, I will come on here and see how that technique is done, some other entries into it, different variations of the move, and often I even study the counter ( since now everyone in class will be trying out the new “move”

Occasionally I will use the site almost like my own private lesson, so if I'm not seeing my Instructor for a few days and I had problems with say a guard pass or couldn't finish a sub, I can come on here and look up a video that covers the topic
and then I will use what I can recall so next time the situation comes up or if it is something I control, then I'll use the move next time I Roll or drill

Another way I use it is really as entertainment (and knowledge gathering )
sometimes I come on here just to pass time productively by watching BJJ technique

I do study based along two lines: after getting my ass kicked in certain positions/attacks/ sweeps etc and supplementation to what were learning in class. For example: my new school does standing grip fighting as a warm up for nearly every class unlike any of my prior training so I now studying the whole course here.

I've been on here since near the start, when initially I was focused on the forums (along with places like Bullshido etc). Gradually over the years I've focused more and more on just the videos. At this stage, I tend to use the Android app, checking out videos before I'm about to go teach a class.

I find it useful to take a look at how other people have taught the same thing. GG invariably has at least one video on the topic, so that's always useful. Sometimes I'll learn something new, but normally it is something I already know and want to improve.

My gym has themes we focus on for 3 week chunks and so if we are on the topic of "back attacks/escapes" I will come here and check any and all material on that topic. I also like to have a personal focus/intention when I go in and I also visit this site to sharpen up on whatever my focus happens to be that week.

This site is best to supplement your training in your academy. Try to watch videos related to the things that are being taught by the instructor.
