    Striking faster

I used to do karate. When I started to practise boxing, I felt very slow, because boxing cloves felt heavy. Now I think that it is a good drill to punch fast pare nuckles/with out cloves and mix it with sessions with cloves. Just for training speed and relaxation.

How do you work your speed?

As a kid I drills speed by punching curtains as fast as possible. Just so that air pressure from my strike moved the curtain very little. Some thing like 10 punches as fast as possible and short break and repeat.

I'm curious about this too. I like the idea of training speed, but not at the cost of form. I've mostly just been trying to focus on good form and placing my faith in the Navy SEAL slogan "slow is smooth, smooth is fast".

I mix up which kind of gloves I hit the bag and mitts with, 16 oz, 10 oz, mma gloves and bare knuckle for that purpose.
